On one side, the remaining oil reserves on the earth are equivalent to about 40 years, at the current rate of consumption, with global energy demands continuously rising, we are faced with the need to seriously rethink our strategy and reestablish our energy supply policies. Actions must be taken now to avert a crisis of exhausting our energy resources.
On the other side, the amount of sunlight striking the earth at any given hour contains solar energy equivalent to the total world energy consumption for one year, the energy is ABUNDANT, it's a natural energy source that do not release any CO2, SO2 or NO2, without any combustion bi-products, a necessity for creating a healthier planet.
Adoption of new natural energy resources is a pressing need for the global society to adjust new international policies with respect to the environment. With the silicon technology improving, after more than 50 years of refinement and use in space as well as large-scale "solar farms" right here on Earth, solar power is ready for conventional applications like never before.
